It’s been an interesting time.

Following my recent travel adventure, I have returned to Brisbane to have had my life trajectory — largely, by my own initiation — thrown into uncertainty and disarray. After a great deal of soul-searching over long period of time, I have come to acknowledge areas of both my personal and professional life that are no longer truly optimised for my long-term-happiness, or that of the people I love. With this knowledge, I have chosen to indefinitely set aside my feelings of short-term comfort, familiarity and safety in order to strive for something far more important:

Welcome!
…finally.

Don’t let the start stop you…and don’t overthink it.

…easier said than done.

For over a year, I have been thinking (and overthinking) about how and why I would begin sharing words and ideas with the world.

The initial decision to begin sharing my writing was made quickly. Since discovering the therapeutic benefits of journaling as a teenager, I have written daily. Words are constantly trying to find their way out of me. Now, it would seem they’d like to be read by humans other than me. Continue reading

The Afternoon Adventurer

The Afternoon Adventurer exists for, generally speaking, 1-2 hours a day or less between the hours of 4-7pm, depending on the season.

More often than not, my home in South-East-Queensland, Australia is gifted with a clear afternoon and an air temperature ideally suited for time spent outside.

I start hearing the call mid-afternoon as the heat begins to leave the day. Invariably, there comes a point in the hours that follow where, if a window is close by, it becomes impossible to work with any measure of productivity. The golden, sideways light cast by the sun is simply too much to resist, and the thought of missing one more moment of it in front of a screen gets me quickly moving.
